Shanghai Academy of Science & Technology, Shanghai's largest research institute, will cooperate with Tianfu Life Science Park and other partners in Chengdu in terms of biomedicine technology. On November 2, at the BIOTIANFU·CAS 2018 Forum on Life Science and Technology Industry Development & 25th Jinqiao Industrial Technology Innovation Conference held in Chengdu, Chengdu Biomedical Technology Cooperation Center was inaugurated.

The Chengdu Biomedical Technology Cooperation Center was co-built by Shanghai Academy of Science & Technology, Shanghai Industrial Technology Institute, and Tianfu Life Science Park. According to Liu Xiaoling, Deputy Director of the Planning and Research Department of Shanghai Academy of Science & Technology, the Center will focus on big data of biomedicine, gene sequencing, precision medicine, AI image recognition, stem cell, and other frontier technologies. On one hand, it will boost the conversion of R&D results of Shanghai in Chengdu; on the other hand, it will realize deeper research cooperation in the above-mentioned fields.

According to Wan Xiang, Deputy General Manager of Tianfu Life Science Park, the Center will serve as a platform to bring biomedicine-related outstanding projects and services (such as gene sequencing and animal model) to Chengdu and even the whole western China, in a way to promote local biomedicine industry; meanwhile, the platform also marks the commencement of cooperation with Shanghai's research institutes, and local enterprises can use the platform to go global in a better way.

According to Shen Yuedong, Director of the Strategic Consulting Center of Shanghai Industrial Technology Institute, take gene sequencing as an example, Shanghai enjoys sound hardware facilities. Catering to the needs of Chengdu side, the Strategic Consulting Center can function as a service station and undertake some projects or launch talent training.

As an important vehicle for biomedicine development in Chengdu Hi-tech Zone, Tianfu Life Science Park currently is home to some 180 biomedicine enterprises and over 6,000 working staff, including one Nobel laureate and 11 experts of "The Recruitment Program of Global Experts".
