According to the cooperation agreement, the CNCBD will support the development of biomedical industry in Chengdu High-tech Zone through point-to-point approach, jointly build a high-quality biological industry ecosystem, and strive to build an internationally renowned and domestic first-class biological industry innovation and creation cluster.

"Biological medicine is a very special field, which exerts great influence on the people's livelihood and the economy, is the important driving force for the coordinated development of economy and society. After the strategic cooperation agreement is signed with Chengdu High-tech Zone, we will strive to develop biomedicine to a higher level in Chengdu and Chengdu High-tech Zone," the head from the CNCBD said at the signing ceremony. Next, the CNCBD will give full play to its professional advantages to help Chengdu High-tech Zone improve the biological industry ecosystem and promote the high-quality development of the biological industry in Chengdu and Chengdu High-tech Zone.

Biological industry is a strategic emerging industry. Relevant analysis shows that China's biotechnology industry will still show a trend of rapid development from 2016 to 2022, with a compound growth rate of around 15%, and the scale of China's biotechnology industry will reach about RMB 1.5 trillion by 2020. "The biological industry is one of the leading industries in Chengdu High-tech Zone, which has maintained a rapid growth rate of 20% for many years," the head from Chengdu High-tech Zone said. At present, Chengdu High-tech Zone has developed key industrial clusters in the fields of biological agents, blood products, and medical devices, and more than 1,300 biomedical enterprises have been clustered here.
