Six Actions Plan

 

■ Six major scientific and technological actions plan for establishing the Base for Modern TCM Technology Industry have been released. The development of six major areas have been included, such as cultivating quality traditional Chinese medicine resources, developing large varieties of traditional Chinese medicine, fostering scientific and technological brands of traditional Chinese medicine, multidimensional and accurate evaluation on traditional Chinese medicine, upgrading key technological equipment for producing traditional Chinese medicine, and improving the innovative technological platforms for traditional Chinese medicine.

 

On October 22, the 6th International Conference on the Modernization Traditional Chinese Medicine (ICETCM) was held in Chengdu. On the branch seminar for the construction of the Base for Modern TCM Technology Industry, the National Base for Modern TCM Technology Industry and Strategic Alliance for Collaborative Innovation was established in Chengdu. The alliance, initiated by the National Base for Modern TCM Technology Industry willingly, would strengthen the policy function, innovative coordination, industrial interaction and information sharing of the National Base for Modern TCM Technology Industry in China, and accelerate the modernized development of traditional Chinese medicine and the development of the mega health industry of traditional Chinese medicine.

The reporter learned from the conference that in order to promote the modernized development of traditional Chinese medicine, the National Base for Modern TCM Technology Industry voluntarily and jointly initiated the establishment of the National Base for Modern TCM Technology Industry and Strategic Alliance for Collaborative Innovation, including members in Sichuan, Jiangxi, Shandong, Jilin, Yunnan and other provinces (cities). The alliance will concentrate on strengthening coordination and integration, implementing joint actions and promoting exchanges and cooperation. By integrating resources and strengthening cooperation, it will achieve mutual benefits and win-win, and jointly build a sharing platform for fostering science, technology, information, finance, brands, talents and management in the base so as to improve the public services. it will promote resource integration and policy linkage within the alliance, jointly cultivating brands; it will carry out scientific and technological actions to build the Base for Modern TCM Technology Industry, and jointly plant quality traditional Chinese medicines and large varieties of traditional Chinese medicine so that science and technology can lead the development of mega health industry based on the traditional Chinese medicine; Through various exhibitions, negotiations, forums and other activities, the alliance will promote cooperation between industry, university and research institutes, agriculture, industry and commerce, various disciplines, domestic and international cooperation, as well as the entry of traditional Chinese medicine into the international pharmaceutical market and the internationalization process.

Breaking the “Bottleneck” Technology for Innovating and Upgrading the Traditional Chinese Medicine

 

At the conference, six scientific and technological actions plan for the construction of the Base for Modern TCM Technology Industry was released in Chengdu. The development of six major areas have been included, such as cultivating quality traditional Chinese medicine resources, developing large varieties of traditional Chinese medicine, fostering scientific and technological brands of traditional Chinese medicine, multidimensional and accurate evaluation on traditional Chinese medicine, upgrading key technological equipment for producing traditional Chinese medicine, and improving the innovative technological platforms for traditional Chinese medicine.

 

How to cultivate large varieties of traditional Chinese medicine representing local characteristics? The reporter learned that for the development of large varieties of traditional Chinese medicine, the whole chain and integrated design would be carried out, ranging from planting (breeding), research and development, production and others. It can not only systematically describe the scientific connotation of efficacy of large varieties of traditional Chinese medicine, but also improve the preparation technique and quality standards. The bottleneck restricting industrial development will be broken through as the mega health products based on traditional Chinese medicine with clarified functions and efficacy are developed. Meanwhile, key production technologies for integrated mega health products will be optimized, and a complete industrial chain will be formed.

 

When promoting the modernized development of traditional Chinese medicine, how to solve the “bottleneck” technology and lack of key equipment for innovating and upgrading traditional Chinese medicine? It is important to upgrade key technical equipment, including key technical equipment for traditional Chinese medicine agriculture, key technical equipment for traditional Chinese medicine processing, key technical equipment for intelligent manufacturing of traditional Chinese medicine and key technical equipment for customized service of traditional Chinese medicine.  In terms of key technologies and equipment for traditional Chinese medicine agriculture, breakthroughs will be made in key technologies such as automatic seeding, seedling transplanting, accurate fertilization, intelligent quantitative drip irrigation, intelligent soil monitoring and improvement, unmanned aerial vehicle for plant protection, integrated process of medicine resources production, harvest, primary processing, and information tracing throughout the life cycle of traditional Chinese medicine. Meanwhile, automatic intelligent equipment for planting, maintaining, harvesting and processing traditional Chinese medicine will be manufactured.  In terms of key technologies and equipment for processing traditional Chinese medicines, breakthroughs will be made in key technologies like intelligent temperature identification, process modeling, process control, continuous production, etc. Also, automatic intelligent equipment for processing traditional Chinese medicines will be developed.
